Madd Style Cosmetics: Greeeeeeeeeeeeeens!

I cannot believe it is already the last day of May!  HOLY SMOKES!  Where did the time go???  

Summer has come back to us in Vancouver and so I've been feeling the bright colours lately.  Another thing I've been digging is putting a bright "colour" in the duct instead of the traditional white or sparkly white-ish colour.  Those ingredients combined to make the following look:

As always, you want to grab allllllll the supplies!  

Do "eye spy" some new brushes?!  Why yes, you most certainly do!  Yep yep.  Real Technique brushes are *finally* in my possession, thanks to a fantastic American brush "trafficking" friend!  Woo!  I am liking them quite a lot, I have to say...but enough about that for now!

(Gabriel Color Mascara in Black; NYX Eyeshadow Base in "White"; Madd Style Cosmetics "Optimus Primer"; Korres Soft Eye Pencil in "White" (number 25); Urban Decay 24/7 Pencil in "Zero"; Madd Style Cosmetics colours (top to bottom): Closing Time, Emerald City, Sneetch and Psychic Paper; Real Technique brushes: Shading Brush, Base Shadow Brush, Domed Shadow Brush and the Accent Brush.)

Begin with a squeaky clean lid!

Grab your handy dandy eye shadow primer and a white eye shadow base.  The primer will help your shadows to stay put all day (and will help to prevent unsightly creasing) and the base will help give the shadows something to stick to.  The base will also blank out your canvas (your eyelid!) and the whiteness of it will give the colours something to POP against.

My method for applying these products is very similar.  Start off with your primer.  Put a rather small amount in the center of your lid.  Using your ring finger, blend it out throughout the whole lid area and blend it up into the crease.  Whatever is left on your finger can be swept below the brow and dabbed into your tear duct.  If there is anything left--apply that along the lower lash line.

Similarly, with the base, I apply that in the center of the lid and then blend it out evenly on the entire lid.  Blend it up slightly into the crease.  Dab a bit of it in the tear duct area.  You want this layer to be quite thin--if you use too much base it will just counteract the primer and will crease!  Bad creasing!

Now for some colour!  Dip a small shader brush into Madd Style Cosmetics "Closing Time" (a gorgeous bright and shimmery green) and apply this to your entire lid area.  Make sure to press the colour into the bristles of your brush by using the inside of the lid of your pigment--this will help to prevent fallout.  If you use a fluffy kind of shading brush, you can use it for two purposes here.  I turned it on its side and gently blended this colour out into my crease area as well--yay for dual purpose brushes!

Next, switching to a pointed crease brush (or the "Base Shadow Brush" as Real Techniques calls it!), dip it into Madd Style Cosmetics "Emerald City" (a lovely dark and glittery emerald).  Using the tip of the brush, place this in the very outer corner of your crease.  Apply the colour in the outer part of the lid area and blend it (from the outside to the inside) to the middle point of your crease.

Here you can see that I didn't take Emerald City all the way into the crease--I only wanted to darken the crease a bit to give my eye some depth.  I wanted to do this without compromising the brightness of Closing Time though!  Switching between the Shading Brush and the Base Shadow Brush--I blended the dark green into the light green with small and gentle patting motions.  I also blended the dark green up and out toward the eyebrow--but I did this carefully, because again, I didn't want the dark green to dominate the look.  

Now--take a white eyeliner pencil and line the outer 1/3rd of your lower lash line.  This will give the lower lash line colour something to adhere to.  

Then, using that same pointed crease brush, I brought some Emerald City over the white eyeliner.  You can see that using this over the stronger white base really brings out the blue in the colour.  Magical!

At this point, you should have something sort of like this:

Switch to a fluffy brush and dip it into Madd Style Cosmetics "Psychic Paper" (my new go-to highlighter!).  Apply this colour below your brow and blend it down into the greens to ensure that there are no harsh lines.

Taking a TEEEENY TINY brush--dip it into Madd Style Cosmetics "Sneetch" (an amazing chartreuse).  Apply this to your tear duct area.  Be sure to blend it up on to the inner part of your lid and down below your tear duct as well.

And now you should have something like this!  At the last minute I also decided to apply a bit of Closing Time in the gap between Sneetch and Emerald City on the lower lash line.  

Finish off by applying a white eyeliner pencil to your lower waterline, a black to your upper waterline, and mascara to both your upper and lower lashes!

And ta-da!  You are finished!

 And a rare(ish) full face shot for you all, as well!  On my lips is one of the newest OCC Stained Gloss Lip Tars in New Wave (I freakin' LOVE THESE THINGS). My new favorite thing is also priming my lips with the clear lip tar.  That stuff is also magical.
