EOTD: Sugarpill and Inglot Mash-Up

The weather in Vancouver has become dreary (although I have to say I really enjoy the snow--but the grey garbage water that is left behind after the rain starts...I do not like quite so much!) and I decided to counter-balance that with a look that calls on Spring!  Using a combination of Sugarpill Cosmetics and Inglot, I came up with this look:

Here are the products I used:
  • OCC Creme Colour Concentrate in John Doe
  • Sugarpill Buttercupcake in the inner lid
  • Inglot Pearl 440 in center lid
  • Inglot AMC 66 in outer lid
  • Sugarpill Tako for the brow highlight
  • Sugarpill Lumi in the tear duct
  • Sugarpill Mochi on the bulk of the lower lash line
  • Inglot Pearl 426 on the outer part of the lower lash line
  • Gabriel Black Color Mascara
  • Inglot 87 Gel Liner (also applied on lower waterline)
My Inglot liner has been dried out--but I used the miraculous "Duraline" to wake it up.  It did a super good job!

This was a pretty fun look to do.  Something about yellows always make me want to blow them out right in the inner portion of the eye this way.  Buttercupcake was the perfect suspect for such a job!

I hope you're all ready for the holiday season (since it is pretty much upon us!) and thanks for stopping by to take a look at my creation.  :)

EOTD: Sugarpill Drama

Tonight I had this vision of Sugarpill's Poison Plum, Velocity and Goldilux in a look.  Then I had to make it happen!

And then everything was right with the world.  :)

What visions of looks have you had in your head lately??

Sugarpill Extravaganza!

Hello!

Today I pulled out my Sugarpill Cosmetics colours and decided to feature one of my newer colours that I haven't played around with too too much yet: Decora!  Wow is it even gorgeous.  The greenish glitter in it made me want to pair it with Lumi and then I wanted to use Poison Plum too...so I just went with my instincts!  Here is what I came up with:

Products used:
  • Random Eyeshadow Primer
  • Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Creme Colour Concentrate in John Doe
  • Inglot 390 Matte in the crease
  • Sugarpill's Poison Plum in the crease
  • Sugarpill's Decora on the lid
  • Sugarpill's Lumi in the duct
  • Sugarpill's Velocity in the deep crease/lower lash line
  • A bit of Sugarpill's Afterparty on the inner portion of the lower lash line
  • Sugarpill's Tako for a brow highlight
  • Sugarpill's Bulletproof for liner
  • A bit of Zuzu Luxe Liquid Liner along the lash line
  • Zuzu Luxe Leaf Eyeliner on the lower waterline
  • Gabriel Color Mascara in Black on the lower lashes
  • Tarte's Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara on the top lashes
What are some of your favorite Sugarpill colours??  I'm very excited because I have the newest three pressed vegan shadows (from the Cold Chemistry collection) coming to me after their Black Friday sale!  Weeeeeeee!  :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Madd Style Cosmetics: Purple, Gold and Brown.

Hi Everyone!

It's time for my next tutorial!

This one does a bit of double duty.  I had posted this look in the Madd Style Cosmetics FB Group Page a few days ago and several of the ladies asked that I do a tutorial for it.  Luckily it's also almost the exact same (but different colours) as the look I did when the lovely Lauren asked that I do a look/tutorial using 'Ello and an MSC matte grey.  As I mention in the video, this kind of look can be changed up depending on the colour you want to use.  But as long as you stick to the matte colour in the crease, you'll end up with the "same" look but it will be tailored to the colours you want to use.  :)

If you want to find out how I achieved the below look, then please take a look at my "talkie" tutorial!

As a reminder, here are the supplies I used:

And here are a couple more shots of the look:

Here's the similar look I did using: Like a Virgin (in the duct), All that Giltters (in the innner and outer lid), 'Ello (in the center of the lid), Touch of Grey and a matte black (in the crease/lower lash line) and Psyhic Paper (brow highlight)

Until next time, my friends!!

My first "haul" video!

Hi All!!

I recently made my first purchase on the Sephora (.ca) website and decided to film a little video of me opening up my box!  As I mention in the video, I convinced myself to make this purchase because it pushed me into VIB status and when I made the purchase it was the last day of this fall's VIB 20% event!  Getting stuff from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (and Tarte) for 20% off was too much for me to resist!

If you're curious to see what I picked up, please take a look!  :)

Annnnd.  I managed to snap some shots of most of the things!

Tarte Amazonian Clay Gel Liner in Black

OCC Metallic Lip Tar in Pris

This is taken with a flash to show Pris (otherwise it wouldn't have showed up in natural light--especially not my dying light.  And you can see I put WAY TOO MUCH gel liner on the brush.  I tried rubbing my arm afterward (should have taken a picture of that) and it stayed pretty well.  I may be impressed!)

OCC Skin Conceal in Y1

OCC Creme Colour Concentrate in John Doe

OCC Creme Colour Concentrate in Bauhaus

GAH!  They were SO CREAMY.  I'd have to use less on my eye, I think, otherwise I can imagine a crease-fest happening.  I'm super impressed with the pigmentation on these though.  Wow!

Tarte Amazonian Clay Matte Waterproof Primer in Park Ave Princess

Park Ave Princess is swatched to the right of the creme colour concentrates

Have you tried any of these products?  If so, what do you think of them?  Did you take advantage of the VIB sale?  If so, what'd *you* get?!  :)

Thanks, as always, for stopping by!

Madd Style Cosmetics: Neutral Eye with POW Liner

Hi All!

I am back with my next phototurial!  I was recently chatting with my friend Jackie and asked her what kind of eye makeup she pairs with OCC's Lip Tar in Black Dahlia--she said she did it with a teal winged liner and I decided to try my hand at something similar.

The result was this look:

If you'd like to find out how I achieved this look using Madd Style Cosmetics piggies, then please, keep on reading.  :)

Madd Style Cosmetics: Dramatic Red and Purple!

Hi, hello!!  :)

It's time for another tutorial, don't you think??  I recently discovered that my local Sephora now has a full Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics end cap display (before they only had random Lip Tars available in the tubs at the line-up).  Colour me much enthused about this!  I was really looking forward to checking out the Lip Tars from the new Moderncraft collection and my local Sephora managed to get the colours in pretty quickly!  Hooray!!  I picked up Role Play and Black Metal Dahlia and went home on my merry way.

This look was inspired by my hardcore desire to use Black Metal Dahlia as soon as possible!  Mo, the creator of Madd Style Cosmetics, suggested I pair it with some reds and purples and that is what I did!  It is a very bold lip and bold eye combo, using none other than Madd Style Cosmetics pigments, and although I likely wouldn't wear this out on Monday morning--it's perfect for a sultry evening, I think!

If you want to find out how I achieved the below look, please keep on reading!

More New (to me) Inglot!

I am fairly certain that one cannot ever have too many eyeshadows from Inglot.  The quality of their shadows is just incredible and the colour range is essentially unbeatable.  If you want mattes, they have them!  If you want glittery ones, they have it!  If you want metallics, yep, got them!  Satins?  SURE!

Recently I was on vacation and visited the Inglot counter in San Francisco (and then made a last minute pit-stop at the Inglot counter in Alderwood Mall in Washington) and I came back with the following goodies!

Top Row: 60 AMC (a beautiful marigold yellow with slight shimmer), 369 Matte (a neato blurple, perfectly matte), 134 R (three shades of satin blue) and 135 R (three shades of seafoam green).
Middle Row: 317 Matte (a gorgeous matte blue based green), 610 D.S (a bright green with gold glitter), 611 D.S (a deep yellow based green with gold glitter), 414 Pearl (a dark green with a green glowly pearl), 418 Pearl (also a dark green, but this ones pearl is more of a teal/blue glow).
Bottom Row: 387 Matte (a matte grey/taupe), 448 Pearl (a super metallic/pearly bright silver), 471 D.S (an interesting taupe-y brown with a green cast to it) and 402 Pearl (a pink taupe that is said to be a dupe of MAC's Satin Taupe).

And here they are swatched!

First Row (top to bottom): 317 Matte, 369 Matte, 60 AMC
Second Row: 414 Pearl, 611 D.S, 610 D.S.
Third Row: 448 Pearl, 387 Matte, 418 Pearl
Last Row: 402 Pearl, 471 D.S.

The rainbow satins were tough to photograph.  They have an amazing glow to them that just wouldn't show up in photographs!!  What happens, essentially, is that when you mix all three of the colours together, you get the middle colour (which makes sense!!) and you can see I've swatched that "mixed" colour to the right of the small swatches of each colour by itself.  It's likely that my favorites in these little trios is the lightest colour and the darkest colour, actually.  The lightest colour has the best glow (almost like a duochrome) and the darkest colours are the most densely pigmented.  The middle colour (and the result of mixing the three) is still super pretty though!!  I'm glad I snagged these!

As with each trip to Inglot, though, the downside is having to come home and rearrange my palettes!!!  I *hate* taking them out of those magnetic palettes--I can never manage to not slip and gauge a few, which *always* makes me so sad!!  The trick I've seen some people post about on the internet of using the magnets from the top of the palettes to grab at the corner of each pan doesn't work for me (I think they made the magnets that hold down the colours stronger or perhaps deeper) so I need to look for a stronger magnet to see if it works.

Regardless!  Here is my full collection when I was attempting to put them into a new order.  (I did move a couple around after this picture, but didn't take a final picture of each of my palettes.)

I have to say my newest obsession, and the colour that I have been getting more and more of when I stop by an Inglot counter, is taupe.  There is just something so darn magical about taupes (they can be warm, they can be cool, they straddle different types of colours whether it's grey, brown, pink, purple, green...amazing!), wouldn't you agree??

Have you ever purchased from Inglot?  What are your favorite colours??  :)

Madd Style Cosmetics: Gold, Pink and Purple Together At Last!

Madd Style Cosmetics: Face of Boe Smoky Eye

Hi All!

This tutorial is formatted a bit differently so that I could share it on Reddit (I'm a new addict of the MakeupAddiction subreddit and when I posted this look last week one of the commenters requested a tutorial for it).

IMATS Vancouver 2013

Hellloooooo!

Yesterday was a big day for me--it was IMATS here in Vancouver!   Hooray!!  I had only been to one IMATS previously (in 2011) and didn't think I was going to attend it this year...but then when I saw that Bdellium Tools was going to be an exhibitor, I pretty quickly changed my mind and purchased a ticket for Saturday!

I didn't end up taking any pictures of the event itself, but I surely took a picture of the "haul" that I purchased!

The first booth I hit up, of course, was Bdellium Tools.  I took out my list (I purchased a few things for a couple friends and a few things for myself!) and got to filling my little tray.  I purchased solely from their new Pink Bambu line and am realllllly pleased with what I picked up.

Here are the eye brushes I snagged.  I already have a 776--but it is quickly becoming one of my favorite blending brushes, so I grabbed a back-up!

And here are the face brushes.  Now, I hardly put on full face makeup and so my face brushes typically go pretty unused.  I picked these ones up, though, because they are quite different from any other of my face brushes.

While I was walking to the Bdellium booth, I noticed an Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics display!  I was so excited because I didn't know OCC products were going to be available!!  So that was the next place I went.  Sadly the only products available were the lip tars (well...that isn't really a "sad" thing because Lip Tars are AMAZING, but I was hoping to play with some of the new OCC concealers!) and the newest Stained Gloss range was not present.  However, I've been on the hunt for a couple of colours and I got them!  WOOO!  I even got the very last Harlot.  *dances around*
Super NSFW on the left, Harlot on the right.
The OCC lip tars were available from the Blanche MacDonald makeup school booth and they *also* had some Cozzette Brushes.  I've been eyeing Cozzette brushes for a long long time and I was (non-surprisingly) very excited to pick some of them up!  Since bringing these bad girls home with me, I've taken them out of their packaging to see how soft they are...and OH MY GOODNESS.  Ridiculously soft.  I have a feeling these brushes will become some of my favorites in no time flat.
From left to right: D200, D230 (this one is SO NEAT.  I can hardly wait to use it!), S150, S165, S175 and S185 (I love tiny fluffy brushes like this and they aren't very typical).
Now the order of events gets a little hazy.  From here I basically walked around the whole floor (I hadn't until this point) to see what was what.

I stopped at the Red Cherry booth and picked up more false lashes and a CUTE tiny little Duo!

I also stopped at the Royal and Langnickel booth to pick up a dupliate of one of my favorite R & L brushes as well as a new BX-65...which I own, but when I got it...I discovered it was a bit misshapen.  I opened up almost all of them at the booth to make sure the one I ended up with was not misshapen (quite a few of them were so I don't know what's up with that!).

And then I *almost* forgot to check out the London Brush Company booth!  By this time I was pretty hungry and not thinking straight!  I picked up two of their vegan brushes and I'm pretty excited about the 2/N "Soft Bent Lip" because I think it's going to do a marvelous job at eyeliner.

As you can believe...by the end of this adventure I was experiencing slight brush fatigue!  Put a vegan in a room with amazing vegan brushes and this is what happens though!!!!!!  :)

Once I wash the brushes and start using them, expect some reviews.  Yep yep!

Thanks for stopping by and please let me know if you have any questions!  Have *you* tried any of these products?  What do you think of them??

Madd Style Cosmetics: Death Star Drama

Hi hi hello!  :)

Recently I posted a look in the Madd Style Cosmetics Facebook Fan Page (click here to request to join, if you're not already part of the fun!) and the lovely Barbara requested that I do a tutorial for it.  Low and behold is the tutorial!

EOTD: Golden Inglot

Last night I had to go back to work for a couple of hours to do something and I decided to put on some makeup for the occasion!  I find that I haven't been wearing makeup to work as much as I had at one point in time--but inspiration caught me yesterday and I couldn't help myself.

My "neutral" Inglot palette has been sitting out on my computer desk these past few days and I think that was the main inspiration for this look.  Especially, considering, all of these colours came from that palette!!  What I ended up liking about this look is that I mixed some cool taupes/browns with a warm lid colour and I think the effect was kinda nice.  I do wish, however, that I had a warmer duct highlight.  I think that might have helped to pull it together a bit more.

Here was the result:

So what did I use?  Well let me tell you!

  • The All Natural Face Magic Eyeshadow Primer
  • Inglot's 363 Matte in the crease (it's a grey taupe) and outer lid
  • Inglot's 419 Matte applied to the lid (a neato metallic antique gold)
  • Inglot's 329 Matte (dark brown) applied to the outer lid and deepest part of the crease
  • Inglot's 395 Pearl applied to the duct and below the brow
  • A mixture of 363 and 329 on the lower lash line
  • A bit of Inglot's 64 AMC at both lash lines (applied with a push liner brush to just darken the lash roots)
  • A tiny bit of Inglot's 390 Matte (a light beige) to blend more in the crease
  • Gabriel Color Mascara in "Black"
And blend blend blend!

Thanks for dropping by!!  If you own any Inglot colours, which ones are your favorite?
